Rams boys to go for upset against Tigers basketball at 7:30 tonight
January 28, 2011
If the Soroco-Hayden girls game has the makings of a good matchup, the boys version doesn't, at least on paper.
Hayden hasn't been tested in more than two weeks, winning three games in that span by an average of 25 points.
Soroco, meanwhile, is coming off its worst weekend of the season, in which it dropped two lopsided games and scored just a combined 55 points.
Rams coach Andy Johnson said his team is eager to purge those demons, and it's not likely to find a better time to do so.
"If we come and play well, we can compete with anybody," he said. "It will be a big game. We're expecting a lot of people there, and it would be a good day to come out and play well."
The stretch comes after the Tigers have dominated their last three varsity opponents.
"You don't play as hard against teams like that, and you don't get as good or improve as much as you can when playing better teams," Tigers' coach Eric Hamilton said, looking back. "It hasn't helped us having a weaker league this season, but I know these teams will be tough."
