Holiday Bake-Off is Thursday
Pilot & Today event offers prizes for best recipes
November 27, 2009
Steamboat Springs — Registration for the inaugural Steamboat Pilot & Today Holiday Dessert Bake-Off closes Wednesday.
The event seeks recipes for the sweetest desserts in Routt County in four categories: best pie, best cake, best cookies and best miscellaneous dessert. First place prizes will be awarded in each category. In addition prizes will be awarded for best overall presentation and community choice. Each winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to City Market or Ace at the Curve.
Participants must take a copy of their recipe and a finished dessert to the Pilot & Today office from 7 to 10 a.m. Dec. 3. Recipes are required for judging. A photographer will take a picture of each contestant with his or her dessert. Pie and cake entries should be a whole pie or cake, and cookie and miscellaneous entries need to include at least two dozen servings.
A panel of community judges will choose a favorite in each category. Judging is at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 3. A community coffee, open house and dessert tasting with Publisher Suzanne Schlicht and Editor Brent Boyer is at 1 p.m. Dec. 3. Anyone attending the coffee break will have a chance to taste the Bake-Off entries and vote for a community choice winner.
To register, fill out a registration form or stop by the Pilot & Today office in Curve Plaza or call 871-4218.
