Community Cinema: "Taking Root"

Bud Werner Memorial Library and Yampatika present a free PBS Community Cinema screening of "Taking Root" at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at Library Hall. The story is about Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai of Kenya, whose simple act of planting trees to address problems stemming from a degraded environment grew into a nationwide movement to safeguard the environment, defend human rights and promote democracy. ReTree Steamboat will be on hand with holiday tree sales for its 2012 local tree-planting event. Information about our local forests and beetle-kill will be on display, and Yampatika will talk about upcoming sustainable tree-cutting programs.
