Faansie Basson, of South Africa, will be teaching a sheep and cattle dog clinic here in Steamboat on Tuesday evening, July 15, and Wednesday morning, July 16. Mr. Basson runs a training facility near Cape Town, South Africa, where he starts and trains dogs for ranchers in the area, mostly border collies and kelpies. His dogs have been National Champions and been awarded Dog of the Year title several times. Mr. Basson is spending the summer in Meeker while he competes in trials and clinics around the western states. He will be working with several younger dogs and a few older, more experienced ones at Mariane Sasak's. Space is limited so interested handlers should call right away. Spectators are welcome.
