The Cardboard Classic, Steamboat's traditional rite of spring celebrating its 28th year, features homemade crafts constructed only from cardboard, glue, string, water based paint, duct tape and masking tape racing down the face of Headwall to a hysterical finish. The uniqueness and creativity of the race make it an event looked forward to every year. For more information call 970-879-6111. New this year, entries will be limited to 50 crafts and there will be a $10/per craft entry fee that will be donated to Yampa Valley Recycles. Registration for both the Cardboard Classic and the April 6 Splashdown Pond Skimming competitions will start March 31 at the Steamboat Information Center. Entries will be taken on a first-come, first-serve, paid in full basis and all entries must sign applicable liability waivers to reserve a spot in competition.
