Literary Sojourn

Literary Sojourn, Steamboat’s celebrated annual festival of readers and authors, is proud to welcome 2006 Pulitzer Prize winner Geraldine Brooks to this year’s intimate gathering on October 14. Brooks won the fiction prize for March, a Civil War story that recreates the tumultuous war-torn world of the absent father in Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. Literary Sojourn’s line-up of nationally acclaimed authors also features Myla Goldberg, Eric Larsen, Stuart O’Nan and second generation Literary Sojourn author Lisa See, whose mother Carolyn See was a 1995 author/presenter. The Master of Ceremonies will be the delightfully entertaining wordsmith Erin McKean.

Fourteen years ago, Literary Sojourn began as a means to bring big-name writers to small-town readers. Today, Literary Sojourn is the oldest established literary festival in the Rocky Mountains and its prestige rivals the large national book festivals. More than 70 nominees and recipients of prestigious literary awards have presented at Literary Sojourn to date.

Literary Sojourn will be held October 14 at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort. Visit http://www.literarysojourn.org for more information about the event, the authors and complete reading lists. Early registration tickets cost $75 until August 28, and are available at the Bud Werner Memorial Library and Off the Beaten Path Bookstore.
