Has anyone heard about plans to develop a second base area / gondola out of Burgess Creek. Is this connected to the discussions regarding a potential sale of the Scandinavian Lodge?
are you just starting rumors? or spreading them? do you have any knowledge that this is really going to happen? or are you just trying to find out if anyone else has heard about this? i saw you posted this on another thread as well. i haven't heard anything about this until you posted it.
I have been to the HOA meetings for Scandi Lodge and these purchase discussions are serious. I didn't hear anything about a gondola, but redevelopment is definitely on the cards. At this stage in the game I would not be surprised at any new proposals.
Anyone who has been here long enough will know that Burgess Creek has always been eyed for its great commercial potential. The developers have knocked on just about everyone's door...it remains to be seen who will follow through.
Don't expect to hear about this until it is all said and done. Parties involved are all tied up by confidentiality agreements. There is no doubt that this train already left the station.
Let's not forget that the plans for the pioneer ridge expansion showed a lift from burgess creek road to the top of "golf course meadows". ASC just never had the money to make it happen.
And so, Hub, did you see the front page of the Pilot today? What DO you do with an extra Gondola? Why, lets move it to the best spot on the mountain for the locals. The Thunderhead area. Why not create another base area with acccess along the city paved road - Burgess Creek.
i didn't see one single thing in that story today about an "extra gondola." what are you talking about? the whole article is about adding spaces to the meadows parking lot, and upgrading the PROPOSED gondola from the wildhorse meadows. since that gondola is just in the planning stages and does not yet exist, there is no "extra gondola" to move to burgess creek.
Ever wonder how long it will be before that maintenance area, sitting on prime ski-in/ski-out real estate disappears underground beneath a new resort and spa development? Not long in my opinion. New lift capacity would have to come online to support all those new guests.

I wonder if that has something to do with the replacement of the Thunderhead lift with the Gondi??
