Couples announcements for January 2008




Bob and Leslie Gumbrecht celebebrate their three-year wedding anniversary Jan. 8. They were married Jan. 8, 2005. The couple lives in Steamboat Springs.


Harris and Spillane

James and Nancy Spillane are pleased to announce the engagement of their son Johnny to Hilary Ann Harris, daughter of Laurel and Dale Harris of Sandy, Utah. Hilary is a graphic designer at the Steamboat Pilot & Today. Johnny is co-captain of the U.S. Nordic Combined Ski Team. The two plan to marry June 14 at the Spillane Ranch in Oak Creek, the site of the couple's future home.


Requist and Tony Requist

Carrie and Tony Requist celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary Jan 10. The couple, who met while attending the University of California, Berkeley, were married in Berkeley, Calif., in 1987. They, along with their three daughters, have lived in Steamboat Springs since 2000.


Rogers and Derick

Robert and Dolores Rogers of Yampa are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Brian David Rogers, to Tara Lee Derick, daughter of Glenn and Barb Derick and Olga Derick of Lakewoood. Brian Rogers graduated from Soroco High School in 1993 and graduated from the Police Academy in Rangely in 2002. Tara Derick graduated from Green Mountain High School in Lakewood in 1996. Brian Rogers is a former law enforcement officer who now owns an excavating business. Tara Derick works for Routt County as a dispatcher. They are in the process of purchasing a local business. An August wedding is planned in Las Vegas.


Roddy and Wright

Mr. Robert Roddy of Comus, Md., and Dr. Pamela Roddy-Morrow of Bethesda, Md., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa C. Roddy, to Norris P. Wright Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Norris Wright of Montchanin, Del. The bride is a 1991 graduate of Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Md. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1996 with bachelor's degrees in anthropology and journalism. She is employed as the deputy city editor at The News Journal in Wilmington, Del. The groom is a 1992 graduate of Tower Hill School in Wilmington, Del., and a 1997 graduate of the University of Delaware with a bachelor's degree in economics. He received his MBA from Arizona State University and is employed as a commodities trader at Excelon Corp. in Kennett Square, Pa. The couple was engaged Oct. 20, 2007, while horseback riding in Unionville, Pa. They are planning an August 2008 wedding in Steamboat Springs.


Hanley and Powers

John and Robin Hanley of Steamboat Springs announce the engagement of their daughter, Catherine I. Hanley, to Michael T. Powers, son of Raymond and Mary Powers of Lunenburg, Mass. Cate, formerly of Lemont, Ill., is a 1999 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School and a 2005 graduate of Fort Lewis College in Durango, where she earned a degree in English communications. She is employed as a senior account executive at Bite Communications in San Francisco. Mike, a 1993 graduate of Nashoba Regional High School in Massachusetts, graduated in 1997 from Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y., with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications. He is an on-air personality at radio station KFOG in San Francisco. A wedding is planned for July 2008 in Steamboat Springs.
